Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 7, 2026
This policy explains what information Atajo receives when you browse researched trips, sign up for updates, send feedback, or follow a third-party link, and how to make a privacy request.
Visits and analytics
Atajo uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, page usage, and actions such as opening a trip, using filters, changing traveler or map views, and clicking booking or feedback links. Google Analytics can collect pages visited, referral information, interaction times, browser and device information, approximate location, and cookie-based identifiers. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Atajo does not send your signup email, feedback answers, or destination-search text to Google Analytics. Booking-click events include trip and provider context; Atajo removes query strings and fragments from the external URLs it includes in those events. Analytics measures interest in a link, not whether you completed a booking.
Optional Atajo updates
If you join the updates list, Atajo stores your email address, signup time, homepage signup source, and the version of the consent wording in its Cloudflare D1 database. This information is used for occasional Atajo trip, site, and feature updates. Signing up is optional. The form does not start an automated mailing campaign. Analytics records a successful signup without including your email address.
You can unsubscribe by using the email link beside the signup form or by emailing atajotravel@gmail.com. Unsubscribe and deletion requests are handled manually. We remove your address from the updates list when you ask to leave, except for information reasonably needed to honor your request or meet legal and security obligations.
Feedback and direct contact
The Give feedback link opens a Google Forms survey. That form collects your email address and the answers you submit, which Atajo uses to understand feedback and respond where appropriate. Google may require sign-in and handles the form under its own privacy policy. Atajo measures clicks to the form; it does not receive an on-site analytics confirmation when you complete the external survey.
If you contact Atajo by email, we receive your message, email address, and any other information you choose to include. You can browse trips without joining the updates list or completing the survey. Please do not submit payment details, passport numbers, or other sensitive travel documents.
Cookies, browser storage, and hosting
Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to distinguish visits and measure site use. Cloudflare hosts and protects Atajo and can process technical request information and use security cookies. The current Atajo interface keeps traveler choices, filters, and the selected view in page memory; Atajo does not save those preferences in local storage or an account.
Viator widgets embedded on trip pages can load content from Viator and use its cookies or similar technologies. When you visit a booking provider or the feedback form, that provider can use its own cookies and tracking technologies. You can manage cookies through your browser, block measurement tools, or use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Blocking these tools does not prevent browsing Atajo's trip cards.
Atajo does not currently respond automatically to browser Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals.
Booking links and affiliate referrals
Flight, hotel, map, and experience links take you to third-party services such as Google, Expedia, or Viator. Those services receive the information associated with your visit, which can include the selected destination or property, travel dates carried by the link, referral identifiers, and technical request information. Affiliate partners can use referral information to attribute a later booking and report referral or commission activity to Atajo.
Bookings and payments take place with the provider. Atajo does not collect your payment information or booking details through its trip pages. Review the provider's privacy policy before submitting personal or payment information.
How information is used and shared
Atajo uses information to improve the trip-planning experience, identify confusing or broken information, respond to feedback, provide requested updates, measure link usage, and protect the site. Cloudflare, Google Analytics, Google Forms, email services, and booking or affiliate providers process information as described above.
Atajo does not sell the email addresses or feedback you submit and does not use them for third-party advertising. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably required by law or to protect the site and its users.
Retention
Update subscriptions are kept while you want updates, subject to the unsubscribe process above. Feedback and direct correspondence are kept for as long as reasonably needed to respond, improve the service, and meet legal or security obligations, then may be deleted or de-identified. Analytics information is subject to Google Analytics retention controls; security and affiliate records are subject to the relevant provider's retention practices. Copies in provider backups may remain until their normal retention periods expire.
Privacy requests
Email atajotravel@gmail.com to ask a privacy question or request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you provided. Include the email address used for your signup or feedback so we can find the relevant record. We may ask for limited information to verify the request and retain information needed for legal, security, or accounting purposes. For information held independently by a booking or analytics provider, use that provider's privacy controls as well.
Policy updates
We may update this policy as Atajo or its data practices change. The date above shows when this policy was last updated.
