I built Atajo because I kept running into the same problem: a cheap flight doesn’t tell you what the trip will actually cost.
Once you add a decent hotel, food, drinks, local transit, and everything else that comes with being there, the “deal” can look pretty different.
Atajo puts those pieces together so you can compare trips from Seattle based on the whole trip, not just the airfare.
Airfare is only part of the story
A cheap flight doesn’t always mean a cheap trip.
A $400 flight can still turn into an expensive week. On the other hand, a destination with a slightly more expensive flight might have cheaper hotels, food, and transportation and end up being the better trip for your budget.
That’s the comparison I want Atajo to make easier.
Instead of opening a bunch of tabs and trying to piece everything together yourself, you can see the major costs in one place.
Built to help you decide
Less searching. Better decisions.
Atajo currently focuses on trips from Seattle built around roughly a week away.
For each one, I look at the flight, a hotel I’d actually feel comfortable recommending, everyday spending, travel time, baggage, and required entry costs.
Sometimes the cheapest option wins. Sometimes spending a little more gets you a much better flight or hotel.
The point isn’t to find the lowest number at all costs. It’s to make the tradeoffs easy to see.
Why I built Atajo
I was already doing this anyway.
I like finding trips and comparing where my money goes the furthest. But I kept noticing that most travel sites make it really easy to compare flights and much harder to compare the actual cost of the trip.
So I started putting the pieces together myself.
Atajo is an attempt to make that process useful for other people too.
The Atajo approach

Then you can compare destinations based on what the trip is actually likely to cost, how much time you’ll have there, and what you’re getting for your money.
There’s no secret score deciding what you should like. The numbers and tradeoffs are there so you can decide for yourself.
What to expect
Useful snapshots, not promises.
Travel prices move. That’s normal.
Atajo checks prices regularly, but the prices you see here are planning snapshots, not guaranteed fares. The final price and booking terms always come from the airline, hotel, or booking provider.
The goal is to get you close enough to the real cost that you can choose a trip with confidence and then book it without starting your research over from scratch.
Atajo means “shortcut” in Spanish.
That’s the idea: less time bouncing between tabs, more confidence about where your money is going, and a faster way to find a trip that feels worth taking.
